Customize Web.com Templates
Web.com’s site editor enables you to customize the template of your choice to display exactly how you want it to appear, and to include information relevant to your business.
To customize a template, you need to modify its existing elements. These include text, backgrounds, images, blocks and themes.
edit text
To edit any text on your website, click on the word you want to change. Then, a blue box and a cursor will appear around the text. Delete existing text and enter the word you want to use.
To completely delete a piece of text, click the “X” button in the upper right corner of the text box. When your cursor touches the “X” button, the blue box around the text block will turn red.
To edit the properties of the text, highlight the word you want to change. The toolbar will then appear below the highlighted text. In this toolbar, you can make the font appear bold, italic, or underlined. You can also adjust the title settings, font, size, and color of highlighted text, and add links.
change background
To change the background, click on the block containing the background you want to change. Next, select the Photos icon that appears second from the top in the light gray toolbar on the right.
The Background menu will slide out of the toolbar. From there, you can change the background photo by hovering over the photo in that window and clicking the “Upload” overlay that appears at the bottom of the photo.
A window will then open where you can drag and drop the new photo. Alternatively, you can upload your favorite images through the My Photos or Cloud tabs or from the Free Photos library available through Unsplash on Web.com.
You can also change the photo background to a video by clicking the Video tab in the Background menu and entering the URL of the video you want to use.
If you want to create a slider background (a series of photos rotated) or a map background, click the Slider or Map tab in the Background menu.
replace image
To replace an image, click on the photo you want to change. Then the toolbar will appear above the image. Click the Image icon on the far left of the toolbar to switch to a different photo.
A window will then open where you can drag and drop the new photo. Alternatively, you can upload your favorite images through the My Photos or Cloud tabs or from the Free Photos library available through Unsplash on Web.com.
Click the second icon in the same toolbar to crop the photo, or click the third icon (which looks like a chain link) to add a link to a new image. You can link to pages within the website, external URLs, files, email addresses or phone numbers.
adjustment block
To adjust a block (part of a specific web page), click the block to open the light gray toolbar on the right.
Use the first icon in this toolbar to adjust the layout of the block, such as its columns and alignment.
Use the second icon in this toolbar to adjust the background of the block.
Use the third icon (looks like intersecting arrows) to move the block to another location on the page. When you click this icon, another toolbar appears on the right, showing the current order of the blocks. Drag and drop them in the order you like.
The fourth icon duplicates the current block, so you don’t have to create another similar block from scratch.
Use the last icon “X” to delete a block.
Edit theme
To modify the theme of a page on your site, click the third icon from the top of the left toolbar. This will open another toolbar from which you can adjust various aspects of the site’s appearance, including the theme menu.
